Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India has transformed from being merely a large consumer market into a global provider of solutions, innovation and technology. Addressing the inaugural session of ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice, Modi highlighted India’s growing role in shaping the future of technology, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
Speaking before global investors, startup founders, researchers and industry leaders, the Prime Minister said innovation has become an integral part of India’s identity. He stressed that India is no longer just adopting global technologies but is actively creating solutions for challenges faced around the world. According to Modi, the country’s startup ecosystem, digital infrastructure and research capabilities are helping position India as a leading innovation hub.
The event, jointly inaugurated by Modi and Macron, brought together more than 500 investors, technology experts and innovators from across the world. The forum is a key initiative under the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 and aims to deepen cooperation between the two countries in areas such as artificial intelligence, deep-tech, space, clean energy and advanced manufacturing.
PM Modi said India’s innovation journey is being driven by young entrepreneurs, researchers and startups that are developing solutions with global applications. He noted that the country’s focus on technology and innovation is not only boosting economic growth but also contributing to solving international challenges. The Prime Minister also emphasized that India is ready to collaborate with global partners to build technologies that are inclusive, sustainable and future-oriented.
French President Emmanuel Macron praised India’s innovation ecosystem and described it as a vital pillar of the India-France strategic partnership. Both leaders underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation in emerging technologies and fostering deeper ties between startups, research institutions and businesses from the two countries.
The France visit is part of PM Modi’s broader Europe tour, which also includes participation in the G7 Summit and an official visit to Slovakia. The trip is expected to focus heavily on innovation, technology partnerships, trade and global cooperation.
