Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday presented India’s vision for Artificial Intelligence (AI) at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, describing AI as a tool that should empower humanity and remain accessible to everyone. Addressing one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation events, Modi said that for India, AI stands for “All Inclusive,” emphasizing that the benefits of technology must reach all sections of society rather than a privileged few.
Highlighting India’s digital transformation, Modi said the country has shown how technology can be deployed at scale to improve governance, expand financial inclusion and deliver public services efficiently. He pointed to India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), including platforms such as Aadhaar, UPI and DigiLocker, as examples of how innovation can improve the lives of millions. He also noted that India’s startup ecosystem has become one of the world’s largest, driving innovation across sectors.
The Prime Minister said India’s approach to AI is based on a human-centric philosophy. He stressed that technology should reduce inequalities, create opportunities and enhance human capabilities rather than replace them. Calling for international cooperation, Modi urged countries to work together to develop AI systems that are ethical, transparent, trustworthy and free from bias. He said governance frameworks must encourage innovation while ensuring accountability and public trust.
Modi also highlighted India’s growing role in the global technology landscape, describing the country as an emerging hub for AI, innovation and digital talent. He said India is no longer just a consumer of technology but is increasingly becoming a creator of cutting-edge solutions. Inviting innovators, researchers and investors to collaborate with India, he pointed to the country’s large talent pool, expanding digital infrastructure and supportive policy environment.
Speaking about India’s strengths, Modi said the country has the world’s largest AI talent base, a thriving startup ecosystem and one of the fastest-growing digital economies. He added that India is investing heavily in AI research, semiconductor manufacturing, digital infrastructure and skill development to prepare for the technologies of the future.
On the sidelines of the event, Modi met leading technology executives, including Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch. Their discussions focused on trusted AI systems, open-weight AI models, innovation and opportunities for collaboration between India and global technology companies.
India is participating in VivaTech 2026 as a key partner nation, using the platform to showcase its technological achievements and strengthen international cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and emerging technologies. During his address, Modi reiterated that India’s vision is to ensure that AI remains a force for good—driving inclusive growth, empowering people and contributing to global progress.
