Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi by saying that if people wanted the better actor for the country, they should have chosen Amitabh Bachchan not him.
Referring to PM Modi as the “biggest actor”, Priyanka said, “You have elected the world’s biggest actor as your PM. It would have been better if you would have chosen Amitabh Bachchan as PM. No one would anyway do anything for you.”
Priyanka made e remark during a roadshow in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur.
Bachchan’s were once very close to the Nehru-Gandhi family and Amitabh Bachchan ventured into politics when Rajiv Gandhi led the Congress.
However, the friendship soured after Amitabh Bachchan’s name got embroiled in the Bofors scandal.
The last round of voting for the Lok Sabha election will take place on May 19 and the counting will be done on May 23.
