Parliament: Amit Shah to table report on President’s rule in Maharashtra

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday will table a report in Rajya Sabha on President rule imposed in Maharashtra.

Shah will also present the report submitted by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to President Ram Nath Kovind.

Amid the ongoing political stalemate, Maharashtra was placed under the President’s rule on November 12

The Union cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi met in the afternoon of November 12 to discuss the political impasse in Maharashtra and decided to recommend to the president to impose Central rule in the state.

Subsequently, President Ram Nath Kovind imposed President’s rule in Maharashtra amid uncertainty in the state over government formation.

No political party has been able to form a government after the announcement of assembly poll results on October 24.
