Pakistan: Blast outside Sufi shrine in Lahore claims 8 lives

At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a suicide blast outside the Data Darbar shrine in the eastern city of Lahore on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

According to the reports, the blast targeted a van carrying the Elite Force of Punjab Police. However, the nature of the explosion is yet to be ascertained.

Rescue teams were rushed to the site of blast.

“The blast took place outside Gate number 2, where the police personnel were deployed for security,” said sources.

Data Darbar, one of the largest Sufi shrines has been targeted previously, in a 2010 suicide attack that killed over 40 people.
