The Pakistani authorities on Tuesday detained 16 Indian fishermen for alleged violation of the country’s maritime boundary, security officials said.
According to the Maritime Security Agency (MSA), three boats of the fishermen were also impounded during the operation in open sea for violating the Pakistan’s coastal territory.
As per the reports, the arrested fishermen were handed over to police for legal proceedings.
India and Pakistan frequently arrest fishermen on charges of entering each other’s waters as the maritime boundaries between India and Pakistan were poorly defined and numerous fishing boats lack technologies on locating their exact places.
