At least two policemen were killed on Friday when unidentified gunmen stormed the Chinese consulate in the Pakistan’s Karachi, officials said.
An explosion was also heard in the high-security Clifton area.
According to sources, the gunmen, armed with automatic weapons, proceeded towards the gate of the consulate after killing the policemen.
However, the guards closed the gate and did not let attackers entered the Chinese consulate compound.
Heavy contingents of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the area after the exchange of fire.
The area, considered a red zone, is heavily guarded.
