Over one lakh protesting farmers begin 2-day ‘Kisan Mukti March’ in Delhi

More than one lakh farmers from as many as 207 farmer organizations have started a mega two-day protest march from November 29 from Brijwasan on the outskirts of Delhi to Ramlila grounds.

The two-day ‘Kisan Mukti March’ has been organized by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).

The AIKSCC said that the 25-km farmers’ march, starting from Brijwasan, will pass through Majnu Ka Tila, Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar.

Farmers are holding a protest to demand loan waivers and assurance of high minimum support price (MSP) and a special parliament session to discuss the agrarian crisis.

Tomorrow the farmers plan to protest near parliament, demanding the passing of bills for higher MSP of grains. Farmers also demanding complete respite from farm loan debt.

Protesting farmers allege that the Centre has “failed to address the farm crisis.”

Atul Anjan, national secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, said that leaders of opposition parties, including Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and West Bengal, have been invited for the two-day protest march.
