New Delhi: Tensions over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak spilled onto the streets outside Parliament on Thursday as Members of Parliament from the opposition INDIA bloc and the ruling NDA staged rival demonstrations, raising slogans against each other during the Monsoon Session.
Opposition MPs, led by Congress leaders, demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and accused the Centre of failing to protect students’ interests. They also condemned the police action against protesters in Delhi and reiterated their demand for a detailed discussion on the NEET controversy in Parliament.
In response, BJP and NDA MPs organized a counter-protest outside Parliament, accusing the opposition of politicising the issue instead of participating in parliamentary debate. The ruling alliance maintained that the government is prepared to discuss the matter in Parliament and has already initiated legal and administrative action against those involved in the paper leak.
The face-off led to loud sloganeering from both sides, with security personnel deployed to keep the rival groups apart. The demonstrations reflected the deep political divide over the examination scandal, which has dominated Parliament and triggered nationwide protests over the past several days.
The NEET controversy has become one of the biggest political flashpoints of the Monsoon Session, with the opposition continuing to press for ministerial accountability while the government insists it has taken swift action, including arrests, fresh examinations where required and plans for stricter legal measures against paper leak offenders.
