Multiple clashes were reported between police and protestors in Kashmir on Saturday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, in which one person was killed in South Kashmir’s Anantnag town and several others were injured.
The youth has been identified as Sheeraz Ahmad, a resident of Brakpora area in Anantnag.
Clashes were also reported from Sopore and Kupwara areas in north Kashmir, according to a Police official, there were more reports of violence in the state on Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan.
Officials said big gatherings of Eid prayers were held at Hazratbal shrine, Eidgah in the old city, Sonawar and Soura Shrines in the heart of the city and similar gatherings were held at all districts headquarters and major towns of the Kashmir Valley.
Terrorists also fired at security forces at Lasjan on the outskirts of the city, injuring a CRPF jawan. Dinesh paswan, the injured CRPF constable, has been shifted to 92 Base Hosptial at Army’s Badamibagh in Srinagar.
