Pune: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday delivered a strong message of Hindu-Muslim unity during the party’s major protest at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), saying that students and job seekers across communities face the same challenges and should not be divided on religious lines.
Addressing hundreds of supporters, Dipke said the movement’s fight is not about Hindu versus Muslim politics but about education, employment and the future of young Indians. He argued that issues such as unemployment, examination irregularities and recruitment delays affect youth from every community and should be addressed collectively rather than through the lens of religion.
The Pune protest marked the next phase of the Cockroach Janta Party’s nationwide campaign. During the event, Dipke unveiled the party’s education manifesto and reiterated demands for greater accountability in the education and recruitment system. He also defended the decision to transform the movement into a political platform, saying that many successful political movements in India began as public campaigns.
The gathering received a boost with the participation of noted social activist Sonam Wangchuk. Addressing the crowd, Wangchuk praised the peaceful nature of the movement and stressed the importance of education, environmental protection and youth participation in policymaking. He urged governments to focus on students’ concerns and create opportunities for the country’s younger generation.
The CJP has been demanding action over alleged examination and recruitment-related irregularities and has called for reforms in the education sector. The organisation announced that similar programmes will now be held in different cities before a larger mobilisation planned in New Delhi later this month.
Visuals from the Pune event showed students carrying banners and placards, while Dipke’s remarks on Hindu-Muslim unity emerged as one of the most discussed moments of the rally, drawing significant attention on social media.
