The Supreme Court will on Monday hear the curative plea of one of the four death row convicts, Pawan Kumar Gupta, in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.
Gupta had filed a curative petition before the top court seeking commutation of his death sentence to life imprisonment.
He is the last death row convict in the case to file a curative petition. The Apex Court has already rejected the curative petitions of the remaining three.
On February 17, a Delhi Court had issued fresh death warrants against the four convicts- Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh which orders their hanging on March 3 at 6am.
The death warrant was issued after the Tihar jail authorities informed the trial court that three of the four convicts have exhausted all legal options.
All four men were convicted and sentenced to death for raping a 23-year-old paramedic student in a moving bus in the national capital on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012.
She passed away at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore while undergoing the treatment.
