Nirbhaya case: Four convicts to be hanged on January 22; orders Delhi Court

A Delhi court on Tuesday issued the death warrant against all four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.

They will be hanged at 7 am on January 22 at the Tihar jail, the court ordered.

The court further said the convicts can use their legal remedies within 14 days including a curative petition in the Supreme Court.

Last month, the Top Court rejected review petition of Akshay Kumar Singh, one of the convicts in the gang-rape case.

The Court had already rejected the pleas filed by other convicts – Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Mukesh Singh.

The 23-year-old paramedic student was gang-raped and brutally assaulted on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012 in a moving bus in the national capital.

She passed away at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore while undergoing the treatment.
