The newly elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla called on the Vice President, M Venkaiah Naidu, who is also the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, at the latter’s residence on Wednesday.
Congratulating Birla on his election, Naidu expressed confidence that having wide experience in public life, he would strive towards strengthening Parliamentary democracy in the country by upholding the best Parliamentary practices and traditions.
Naidu in a tweet said, “I am confident that having wide experience in public life, Shri Birla would strive towards strengthening Parliamentary democracy in the country by upholding the best Parliamentary practices and traditions.”
Om Birla today elected as the Speaker of the seventeenth Lok Sabha.
PM Modi Congratulated Birla and said that it is a proud moment for all the members to have such a distinguished personality as the Speaker of the House.
