Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, chief of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit and former union minister Bandaru Dattatreya were among the five new governors announced by President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday.
Soundararajan has been appointed as the new governor of Telangana. Kalraj Mishra, Governor of Himachal Pradesh is transferred and appointed as Governor of Rajasthan. Bandaru Dattatraya replaces Kalraj Mishra in Himachal Pradesh.
Former union minister Arif Mohammed Khan has been appointed the Governor of Kerala and Bhagat Singh Koshyari as the Governor of Maharashtra.
The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices, the statement said.
