Narendra Modi takes oath as Prime Minister for second term

Narendra Modi on Thursday took oath as Prime Minister for the second term. President Ram Nath Kovind has administered the oath of office and secrecy to Narendra Modi in front of over 7,000 guests at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Smriti Irani, Nirmala Sitharaman, Prakash Javadekar, Piyush Goyal, Nitin Gadkari, Babul Supriyo and several others took the oath of office after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, former PM Manmohan Singh, senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad are also present at the occasion.

Foreign dignitaries and envoys of the several countries in India are also attending the event.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced that his party the Janata Dal United (JDU) will not be a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Nitish told reporters that nobody from his party will feature in the council of ministers However, he said his party, the JDU, remains part of NDA.

According to the sources, the JDU had been offered one cabinet position.

Sushma Swaraj, one of the senior-most leaders of the BJP, was among several ministers of the previous Council of Ministers dropped from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
