New Delhi, July 7. Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating his 45th birthday today, with fans, cricketers, sports personalities and franchises from across the country flooding social media with heartfelt wishes for one of Indian cricket’s greatest icons.
Widely known as “Captain Cool”, Dhoni is regarded as India’s most successful captain. Under his leadership, India won the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, making him the only captain in cricket history to win all three major ICC white-ball trophies.
Apart from his international success, Dhoni has enjoyed an illustrious Indian Premier League (IPL) career with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), leading the franchise to five IPL titles and cementing his place among the most successful captains in the tournament’s history.
Marking the occasion, a fan club named Telugu MSDians also took the initiative to donate blood at the Chiranjeevi Eye and Blood Bank. The club was founded by Praveen Balusu, a vice president at an IT firm. “We do something every year in the orphanages on his birthday,” said Praveen. Inspired by the social work of film actors Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan, the group approached their blood bank for the drive. “We have ensured that we are prepared for about 500 blood donors,” said Ravanam Swami Naidu, COO of the blood bank.
The Chennai Super Kings also shared a special birthday tribute on social media, while fans across the globe celebrated Dhoni’s remarkable journey and contributions to Indian cricket. Messages describing him as “Captain Cool” and praising his calm leadership, finishing ability and sportsmanship trended across various social media platforms.
Although Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020, he remains one of the sport’s most influential figures. His leadership, composure under pressure and achievements continue to inspire generations of cricketers and millions of fans around the world.
