New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video from the NDA leaders’ meeting in New Delhi, showing him enjoying Bengal’s popular street snack, jhalmuri, along with alliance leaders. The video quickly gained attention on social media, with many users praising the Prime Minister’s appreciation of regional Indian culture.
The informal moment took place during an NDA conclave held to mark the completion of 12 years of the Modi government at the Centre. Several Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers and senior alliance leaders attended the gathering, which focused on governance, development and the future roadmap of the NDA coalition.
In the video, PM Modi is seen sharing jhalmuri with fellow NDA leaders. The snack, a popular delicacy from West Bengal made with puffed rice, spices and vegetables, has long been associated with Bengali culture. Political observers noted that the gesture also carried symbolic significance, highlighting the NDA’s efforts to showcase India’s regional diversity and cultural traditions.
The meeting coincided with another major milestone for the Prime Minister. On June 10, Modi surpassed Jawaharlal Nehru’s record to become India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, completing 4,399 consecutive days in office. NDA leaders used the occasion to congratulate him on the achievement and reaffirm their commitment to the goal of a “Viksit Bharat”.
