New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at a factory-cum-warehouse near the Punjab National Bank in South Delhi’s Chandan Hola area in the early hours of Sunday, triggering a major firefighting operation. The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received the call at around 2:00 am, following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
According to the Delhi Fire Services, the blaze erupted in a basement plus ground-plus-three-storey building spread over nearly 350 square yards. The fire engulfed electronic goods, electrical equipment, furniture and fixtures stored inside the building, causing extensive damage.
More than 25 fire tenders were deployed to control the blaze. After several hours of firefighting, officials brought the fire under control at around 6:30 am. As of 7:05 am, no casualties or injuries had been reported.
Authorities said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation has been launched to determine what triggered the incident.
The incident comes just days after separate fire accidents in Uttam Nagar and at the Parikrama Restaurant on Barakhamba Road, raising fresh concerns over fire safety in commercial establishments across the national capital.
