Manipur’s COVID-19 cases rise to 342, no death

Manipur has reported 31 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 342, State Health Department said on Thursday. No death reported till now.

Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, spokesperson of Manipur Health Department, in a press statement, said that 31 persons were confirmed for COVID-19 on Wednesday at Viral
Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, Regional Institute of Medical Science, Imphal.

Mr. Mangang added that 13 people were from Imphal West district, 13 from Tamenglong district, two from Kakching district, and one from Bishnupur district.

“The patients will now be shifted to COVID Care facilities in Imphal and the concerned district authorities have already taken up all necessary precautionary measures,” the spokesperson added.

Presently, Manipur has a total of 342 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, of which 279 are
active.

“The probability of a discharged person becoming positive again is very low and such virus are usually non-viable,” Mr. Mangang said, appealing that, people discharged from Hospitals should not be stigmatized.

Meanwhile, India recorded the highest single-day spike of 357 fatalities and 9,996 cases on
Thursday, pushing the death toll to 8,102 and the nationwide tally to 2,86,579, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
