Maharashtra: Nine arrested over alleged ISIS links

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested nine persons including a teenager for alleged linked to the ISIS terror group.

The Maharashtra ATS was investigating the presence of sleeper cells ahead of Republic Day.

The ATS officials gathered relevant information about them and started trailing the nine for several weeks.

The ATS was keeping a close watch on the nine suspects and carried out searches at five different locations in Mumbra, Thane and Aurangabad on Tuesday.

According to the reports, chemicals, powder, mobile phones, hard drives, SIM cards, acid bottle, sharp knives, explosives etc have been found during searches.

The nine have been arrested for criminal conspiracy and unlawful activities and further investigation in the matter is underway.
