The Shiv Sena MLAs on Thursday elected senior leader Eknath Shinde as the leader of the legislative party.
According to the sources, his candidature was proposed by party leader Aaditya Thackeray and all-party leaders agreed to it.
At their first formal meeting, Shiv Sena MLAs met today afternoon to choose their legislative leader.
In 2009, Shinde won the Assembly election seat from Thane’s Kopri-Panchpakhadi and again in 2014, Shinde won the same seat with huge margin.
Shiv Sena leaders including Aditya Thackeray, Eknath Shinde among others will meet Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at 3.30 pm.
