Kohli, Bumrah Return as India Announce ODI Squad for England Tour

New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with senior stars Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah making their return to the 50-over setup. Shubman Gill will continue to lead the side, while Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain.

Kohli, who missed the recent ODI series against Afghanistan due to injury, has been included in the squad subject to fitness clearance. His return is expected to strengthen India’s batting line-up ahead of an important overseas assignment. Bumrah also returns to ODI cricket after a lengthy absence from the format, providing a major boost to the pace attack.

The squad features a blend of experience and youth, with Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav retaining their places. Wicketkeepers KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have been included, while Harshit Rana has earned a recall after recovering from injury.

However, there were a few notable omissions. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who recently scored a century against Afghanistan, failed to find a place in the squad. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has also been left out despite being a regular member of India’s white-ball setup in recent years.

The three-match ODI series against England will be played on July 14, 16 and 19. The tour is expected to serve as a key preparation opportunity for India as the team continues to build towards future ICC events under the leadership of Shubman Gill.
