Kashmir: CRPF official killed, Kashmiri Pandit, 2 migrant labourers injured in militant attacks

Militants carried out four attacks in Kashmir in the last twenty-four hours killing a CRPF personnel and critically injuring  four others including a Kashmiri Pandit businessman, another CRPF personnel and two non-local labourers.

Bal Krishan, a Kashmiri Pandit, received bullet injuries on his hand and leg and was taken to an Army hospital in Srinagar. His condition is stated to be stable.

Earlier, militants shot at two CRPF personnel in Srinagar’s volatile Maisuma area, killing one and injuring another.

On Monday itself militants shot at two migrant labourers at Lajoora village in South Kashmir injuring Patlashwar Kumar and Jakku Choudhary, both residents of Bihar. The two have been hospitalised and are stable.

The fresh spurt in attacks has been a cause of concern for the security agencies, who can’t protect each and every migrant or Kashmiri Pandit who is in the Valley.

The attacks have also proved that militancy remains a challenge for the security forces. The killings have been condemned by the major political leaders in the union territory.

“I add my words of condemnation to those of my colleagues & send my condolences to the family of the CRPF jawan killed in the line of duty. Prayers for the injured jawan in the hope that he makes a full recovery,”  National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah tweeted,

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti tweeted: “Condemn attack on CRPF personnel in Maisuma this afternoon. This senseless violence doesn’t yield anything apart from inflicting miseries on the innocent families of those killed. My condolences to the family and prayers for the injured.” JK Pradesh Congress Committee and the Apni Party also condemned the killing of the CRPF personnel.
