JP Nadda was on Monday elected unopposed as national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Nadda, who was appointed as working president in June last year, succeeded Union Minister Amit Shah.
Nadda’s name was proposed by the top BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, besides several party leaders during the nomination process.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated JP Nadda on being elected the BJP president.
“Congratulations to Shri @JPNaddaJi on being elected @BJP4India President. Wishing him the very best for his tenure. Nadda Ji is a dedicated and disciplined Karyakarta who has worked for years to strengthen the party at the grassroots. His affable nature is also known to all,” Modi tweeted.
“Be it as a young Party Karyakarta, MLA, Minister in Himachal Pradesh or Organisational duties at the Centre, MP and Union Minister, @JPNaddaJi has added value to any responsibility he has held. Am sure @BJP4India will scale newer heights during his Presidency,” Modi added.
PM Modi said during the presidency of Amit Shah the party got opportunities to serve in several parts of India.
“I do not think words can do justice to the rich contribution of @AmitShah Ji as @BJP4India President. During his Presidency, BJP got opportunities to serve in several parts of India. We also got our highest ever tally in a Parliamentary election. He is an outstanding Karyakarta,” Modi added.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also congratulated JP Nadda on being elected the BJP president.
“Congratulations to Sh @JPNadda ji on being elected the BJP president. I am confident the Party will achieve new glory & success under his leadership. Known for his organisational experience Naddaji has always been an asset to the party. Wishing him a successful tenure ahead,” Rajnath tweeted.
He congratulated Amit Shah for his illustrious innings as the BJP President.
“I also congratulate Shri @AmitShahji for his illustrious innings as the BJP President. He led the party to newer heights during his tenure and achieved success in forming governments in several states. The @BJP4India has benefitted a great deal from his organisational acumen,” Rajnath added.
