Democrat Joe Biden, 78, on Wednesday was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States of America, whereas Kamala Harris took oath as the first female vice-president of US in a ceremony at US Capitol.
In his first tweet as the President, Biden said, “There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face. That’s why today, I am heading to the Oval Office to get right to work delivering bold action and immediate relief for American families.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Biden on the assumption of office, PM Modi in a tweet said, “My warmest congratulations to @JoeBiden on his assumption of office as President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen India-US strategic partnership.”
PM Modi further said, “My best wishes for a successful term in leading USA as we stand united and resilient in addressing common challenges and advancing global peace and security.”

PM Modi also congratulated Kamala Harris for being sworn as vice president. Modi in a tweet said, “Congratulations to @KamalaHarris on being sworn-in as @VP. It is a historic occasion. Looking forward to interacting with her to make India-USA relations more robust. The India-USA partnership is beneficial for our planet.”
