Fast bowler Auqib Nabi

Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Auqib Nabi has earned his maiden call-up to the Indian senior men’s Test team after being named as the replacement for injured pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Sunday that the Men’s Selection Committee had drafted Nabi into the squad after Bumrah was ruled out with a left knee injury sustained during the ODI series against England.
For Jammu and Kashmir cricket, the selection marks a landmark moment, with Nabi stepping in for one of the world’s premier fast bowlers at the highest level of the game.
The 24-year-old has forced his way into national reckoning through a remarkable domestic run. He claimed 104 wickets across the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, including 60 wickets in the 2025-26 season, playing a pivotal role in Jammu and Kashmir’s maiden Ranji Trophy triumph.
Nabi had also impressed during the recent India A tour of Sri Lanka, where he picked up six wickets in two first-class matches, strengthening his case for a senior national call-up.
India’s updated Test squad: Shubman Gill (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, Saransh Jain and Auqib Nabi.
