The Jammu and Kashmir administration has mapped 2,826 government offices and 1,048 private establishments under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, officials said on Wednesday.
The information was shared during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo to assess the implementation of the POSH Act across the Union Territory.
Officials said three complaints of workplace sexual harassment have been received and resolved under the provisions of the Act so far.
The Chief Secretary stressed the need for strict implementation of the POSH Act and Supreme Court guidelines to ensure safe and harassment-free workplaces for women. He also called for greater awareness about women’s rights and grievance redressal mechanisms, including Women Helpline-181 and the SHe-Box portal.
During the meeting, officials informed that Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) have been constituted down to the tehsil and block levels, while efforts are underway to identify and map all workplaces across the Union Territory.
Mission Shakti officials said capacity-building programmes and awareness initiatives are being conducted regularly to strengthen compliance with the Act.
The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe and dignified working environments for women through stronger enforcement and institutional support mechanisms.
