Four personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) have died on Wednesday in another ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers on the International border in Chambliyal sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. One among the four is BSF assistant commandant.
Inspector General, BSF, Ram Awtar told reporters, “Pakistan Rangers initiated cross border firing along the International Border in Ramgarh last night. We have lost four of our personnel, including an assistant commandant rank officer, while other 3 of our personnel suffered injuries.”
The deceased have been identified as Assistant Commandant Jatinder Singh, Sub Inspector Rajesh Kumar, ASI Ram Niwas and Constable Hans Raj.
All the soldiers were of 62 Battalion of the BSF. Sub Inspector Zantal Sil, Constable Sujan Dass and Constable Vikas Kumar were injured in the firing and are under treatment at Military Hospital in Jammu.
The ceasefire violation by Pakistan comes after Indian Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt General Anil Chauhan and his Pakistani counterpart Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza held a special talk and agreed to implement the ceasefire pact of 2003 in “letter and spirit”.
