J&K: Army Jawan ‘Aurangzeb’ Abducted From Pulwama, Shot Dead By Militants

Bullet-riddled body of ‘Aurangzeb’ an Army jawan was recovered, hours after he was abducted from Pulwama district of J&K by militants. A team of police and Army found Aurangzeb’s body at Gussu village, 10 km away from Kalampora, in Pulwama district.

Aurangzeb, who was on his way home on leave for Eid when he was abducted, was shot in the head and neck, police said.

Aurangzeb belonged to 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and was posted with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles camp at Shadimarg in Shopian.

Army officials said, at about 9 am, Army men from the unit stopped a car asking the driver to drop Aurangzeb in Shopian, Militants intercepted the vehicle as it approached Kalampora and abducted him.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Another piece of terrible news to add to an already horrible day. May Aurangzeb rest in peace. Allah Jannat naseeb karay (sic).”
