Two terrorists were killed on Friday morning in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
According to the officials, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces during a cordon and search operation in Aadkhara village of Imam Sahab area of the district.
Jammu and Kashmir police had earlier tweeted, “Brief exchange of firing between #Security forces and #terrorists in #Shopian. Area under cordon. Information is #preliminary in nature.”
Meanwhile, an army man was injured during the gunfight and has been evacuated to the hospital.
Authorities have suspended mobile and internet services in the area as a precautionary measure.
