Two terrorists were shot dead on Saturday in a joint operation launched by the Army, CRPF and local police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The security forces launched a search operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of militants at Rebban area of Zainpora in Shopian district.
According to the police, the terrorists opened fire at the approaching forces, leading to an encounter.
Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.
A case has been registered by police.
Jammu and Kashmir Police tweeted, “Encounter ends at #Shoipan. Two terrorists killed. Arms and ammunition recovered. Identities are yet to be ascertained. No collateral damage during the operation.”
