Security forces on Saturday killed six terrorists in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Jammu and Kashmir police had earlier tweeted, “exchange of fire between security forces & #terrorists at Arampora. Area under cordon. Details will follow.”
“06 #terrorists killed. #Arms & Ammunition recovered. No #collateraldamage took place. Identities & affiliations being ascertained,” Jammu and Kashmir police added.
According to the reports, an aide of Zakir Moosa, one of Kashmir’s most wanted terrorist, was also killed in the operation.
A cordon and search operation was launched by security forces in Arampora village in Awantipora area following specific information about the presence of terrorists there.
“As the forces were conducting searches, terrorists fired upon them, triggering the encounter,” police said.
Huge quantity of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the spot, police added.
