Schools and colleges remain closed on Tuesday, in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district as a precautionary measure after a 26-year-old youth was killed in clashes that erupted between security forces and protesters on Monday.

Two persons were injured in firing by the security forces during clashes in Gusoo village.

Later, one of the injured, Fayaz Ahmad Wani, was declared dead at the hospital.

The clashes started soon after a massive Cordon and Search Operation was launched by Army troops, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) in several villages of South Kashmir in Pulwama district on Monday.

Security forces had started the search operation following the reports about the presence of militants in the villages.
