Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch district

Pakistani troops on Saturday violated ceasefire, resorting to unprovoked firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said.

Mortar shelling in the Mankote sector in Poonch started around 2.30 am.

“At around 2.30 am, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars along the LoC in Mankote sector,” a defence spokesperson said.

“The Indian Army retaliated befittingly,” the spokesperson added.

Since the beginning of this year, Pakistan has committed over 3,200 such ceasefire violations.
