A terrorist was killed on Friday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said.
Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora, Nowgam after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there.
The encounter began after the hiding terrorists opened indiscriminate fire at the security forces and the latter retaliated in which one terrorist was killed, officials added.
Police have also recovered arms and ammunition from the site of encounter.
Kashmir Zone Police said in a tweet, “#Budgam #encounter update: 01 #terrorist #killed. #Arms & ammunition recovered. #Identity & affiliation being ascertained. #Search continues.”
