Militants on Wednesday fired upon the 55 Rashtriya Rifles’ (RR) patrol party in Haji Darpora village of Pulwama District on Wednesday.
Brief exchange of gunfire took place as the RR troops in retaliation opened fire on the terrorists, a non-local labourer sustained a bullet injury in the incident. He was taken to the hospital.
The entire area has been cordoned off and security forces have launched a massive search operation.
In a separate incident, the Army troops foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday. An intruder was gunned down by the troops after he opened fire in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, said an Army officer.
The intruder’s body was handed over to the police after he was gunned down during exchange of fire, he added.
