A former special police officer (SPO) was killed by militants on Friday after he was kidnapped from Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
According to police, body of former SPO, Basharat Ahmad was recovered from Pulwama district hours after he was kidnapped by the militants.
Besides the former SPO, two other persons were also abducted by the militants.
However, the two other kidnapped persons were released by the suspected militants.
Police said, “two civilians besides Basharat were abducted forcibly by terrorists from Reban area of Shopian on early Friday. Two of them were set free. However, police retrieved the body of Basharat Ahmad from village Nikloora in Pulwama. His body was handed over to his family after completion of medico-legal formalities.”
Basharat and the two others, Reyaz Ahmad and Zahid Ahmad were all residents of Reban.
This is the third killing of abducted persons by militants during the last fortnight. Two persons abducted from Shopian district were earlier killed by militants.
