Five security personnel were martyred in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Handwara. Two terrorists were also killed in the operation that began on Friday morning in a village in Handwara.
Jammu and Kashmir police tweeted, “Handwara encounter update: #Operation is in the #advanced #stage. Further #details shall follow.”
A CRPF trooper, who was among six security men injured in the gunfight on Friday, succumbed to injuries on Sunday morning.
Two CRPF personnel and two policemen were killed on the first day of the encounter on Friday which started after security forces cordoned Babagund area after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists.
Six other security personnel were also injured in the gunfight. A civilian was also killed in clashes near the encounter site on Friday.
