An encounter broke out on Saturday morning between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “Exchange of #fire between #securityforces & #terrorists at #Shopian. Area under #cordon. Details shall follow.”
Security forces launched cordon and search operation after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in Bona Bazaar area, an official said.
The search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists opened fire at security forces and the latter retaliated, an official added.
The gunfight is currently underway.
