An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday morning. Two terrorists have been reported to be killed while 2 soldiers were injured including an officer in the ongoing encounter.
The encounter began when joint forces of police, Army and CRPF started a cordon and search operation at Kundalan village of Shopian district.
“As army began the search operation at around 4.15 am, militants who were hiding opened fire on the security forces injuring the two Army men. The fire was retaliated and there was a fierce gunfight that is still in progress,” police said. The injured soldiers have been shifted to an Army Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
Latest reports suggested that over 5-6 terrorists are holed-up in a house in Kundalan area.
The operation to evacuate the civilians from the nearby houses is also underway.
