An encounter broke out on Thursday between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Wanigam Payeen in Kreeri area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired at the forces, who retaliated.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at #Wanigam Payeen Kreeri area of #Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
