Jammu and Kashmir: 5 security personnel injured in encounter in Mujgund

Five security personnel were injured in an ongoing encounter between security forces and militants in Mujgund area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.

The encounter which began on Saturday has entered into the second day on Sunday,

“The gunfight is currently underway in the area,” police said.

The gunfight resumed on Sunday morning and the operation to flush out the terrorists is on, the officer said.

He further said, “while the firing was stopped for the night, the forces had cordoned off the area to stop the terrorists from escaping.”

Mobile internet services have also been suspended in Srinagar in view of the ongoing encounter.

The gunfight started after the terrorists fired upon security forces on Saturday when they were conducting searches, on getting specific inputs about the presence of some terrorists in the area.
