At least 33 people were killed and several others injured on Monday when a mini bus fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
According to the reports, the bus was on its way to Kishtwar from Keshwan when it skidded on the road near Srigwari and fell into the gorge.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for further treatment, an official said.
Jammu and Kashmir politicians Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah condoled the deaths.
“Saddened to hear about the tragic accident in Kishtwar. Deepest condolences to families of the bereaved, Mehbooba said in a tweet.
“Terrible news coming in about the high death toll in a bus accident in Kishtwar. Condolences to the families of the deceased & prayers for the swift recovery of the injured,” Omar tweeted.
Rescue operation is currently underway.
