The Aviaindra 2018 Indian-Russian air tactical exercise kicked off at the State Flight Training and Test Centre on September 23. The drill will conclude on September 28.
Taking to their official Twitter handle, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India wrote, “The #AviaIndra2018 #Russian-#Indian air tactical exercise kicked off in Lipetsk at the State Flight Training and Test Centre.”
Aviaindra is a bilateral exercise between Indian Air Force and Russian Federation Air Force with a focus towards anti-terrorist operations.
First Aviaindra exercise was conducted in year 2014.
Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation said that around 20 pilots of the fighter, Army and military transport aviation have arrived at the site of the drills. Engineers, flight control and air safety specialists are also the part of the Indian delegation. Su-30SM, Su-25, MiG-29, An-26 and Mi-8 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces will be involved in the drills.
Under the bilateral exercise Russian and Indian crews will practice combat use of missiles, bombs and small arms at ground targets, dogfight, tactical airborne assault and shorter runway landing.
The Aviaindra 2018 air tactical exercise will be concluded on September 29.
