India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 7,67,296; Death toll at 21,129

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 7,67,296 as it recorded 24,879 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 21,129 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

There are 2,69,789 active cases while 4,76,377 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 2,23,724 with 9,448 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,22,350 with 1,700 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,04,864 and 3,213 deaths, Gujarat – 38,333 cases and 1,993 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 31156 cases and 845 deaths.

A total of 1,07,40,832 samples have been tested up to July 8 of which 2,67,061 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
