India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 6,25,544; Death toll at 18,213

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 6,25,544 as it recorded 20,903 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 18,213 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

There are 2,27,439 active cases while 3,79,891 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,86,626 with 8,178 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 98,392 with 1,321 deaths followed by Delhi – 92,175 and 2,864 deaths, Gujarat – 33,913 cases and 1,886 fatalities and Uttar Pradesh – 24,825 cases and 735 deaths.

A total of 92,97,749 samples have been tested so far of which 2,41,576 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
