India, US decide to take relationship to comprehensive global partnership level

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that the two countries have decided to take Indo-US ties to a comprehensive global partnership level.

“During our discussions today, we had a productive exchange on all important aspects of our relationship,” said PM Modi.

In a joint press statement with US President Donald Trump, PM Modi said, Yesterday, President Trump received a historical welcome in Motera that will be remembered forever.”

“We have agreed to start negotiations towards a big trade deal; India-US cooperation is important for a rule based international order in Indo-Pacific and Global Commons,” added Modi.

“I have requested President Trump that talks between the two sides on Totalisation Agreement on social security contributions of Indian professionals in USA be taken forward,” PM Modi said.

Both countries inked three MoUs, including one in energy sector. President Donald Trump said in his press statement at a Hyderabad House that a defence deal worth around USD 3 billion has been inked.

Trump said, “This has been a very productive visit for both of our Countries.”

President Trump today morning received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Trump and Melania Trump paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, where the US President laid a wreath and observed a minute’s silence.

The Trumps also planted a tree at Rajghat.
