Indian authorities on Thursday removed security barricades and other structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, three days after Pakistani authorities took similar action outside India’s diplomatic mission in Islamabad.

The structures removed in Delhi included queue-management barriers near the Pakistan High Commission’s visa section. PTI, quoting official sources, reported that the structures extended beyond the mission’s approved boundary.
The action came after Pakistani authorities on Monday removed security barricades and parking poles outside India’s High Commission in Islamabad. The timing has led to the latest move being viewed as a reciprocal response.
Visuals from New Delhi showed authorities dismantling the external structures and clearing the area outside the Pakistani mission. The main building of the High Commission was not affected.
The latest development comes amid strained India-Pakistan relations, which deteriorated sharply after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack and the military confrontation that followed.
India has maintained that Pakistan must take credible action against cross-border terrorism, while Pakistan has rejected India’s allegations.
The removal of the structures outside the two diplomatic missions comes against this backdrop of continuing tensions. While there has been no publicly available Indian government statement specifically describing Thursday’s action as retaliation, its timing, three days after the move in Islamabad, has given the latest development a clear reciprocal dimension.
