Indian and Pakistani soldiers exchanged heavy fire across the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
The defence officials called it the third ceasefire violation along the LoC in last twenty-four hours.
“The forces from across the border started unprovoked shelling and firing targeting Indian positions in Naushera and Sunderbani sectors around 1030 am. this morning,” a defence spokesperson said.
The unprovoked violation of the ceasefire along the LoC prompted the Indian Army to retaliate with the same calibre.
Heavy firing exchanges also took place between the two armies in Nowshera in Rajouri and Krishna Ghati in Poonch on Tuesday. A soldier was injured in Kalal area of Rajouri in the firing.
The firing in the Sunderbani sector had started around 10.30 pm on Tuesday and ended around 4.30 am.
All educational institutes within 5 km radius of the LoC in both the districts continued to remain closed.
